Herald, praise, call - 6th international festiwal of church bell ringing

In Poland, church bell ringing is a vanishing tradition. It involves composing melodies, depending on religious needs, to be rung on bells.
Our annual festival, as always, takes place during Orthodox Easter time. As old tradition has it at that time anyone can ring a bell to prasie the Lord.

In 2014 we are changing the form of our festival. This year the competition is divided into two editions: a national edition and an international one. Ten participants are chosen for each edition. Only Polish participants are admitted to the national edition. The international edition is an open one and it is available to national and international competitors.

The festival takes place on 25th, 26th and 27th of April 2014.
The national competition is scheduled for 25th of April 2014.
The international competition takes place on 26th of April 2014.
Festival auditions start at 4 p.m. and finish at 5:30 p.m.
In each competition bell ringers perform for up to 5 minutes.
The organizer of the festival (Museum of Podlasie in Bialystok) founded two main prizes of 3.000 zl and two honorary awards of 1.500 zl.
The final concerto with performances by winners of both editions of the festival is at 4 p.m. on 27th of April 2014.
All concertos take place at a courtyard of a monastery of Annunciation in Suprasl. The gate to the monastery is an antique 18th century bell tower.
The winners are chosen by a jury of three professional musicians and experts in the field.
Anyone who would like to participate in the competition has to fill in a form and send it to:

Muzeum Ikon w Supraślu
ul. Klasztorna 1
16 – 030 Supraśl
Or
muzeum.ikon@muzeum.bialystok.pl

Participants qualified for the competition get free accommodation and full board from 25th of April 2014 until 27th of April 2014.
