“Saint Teodora was the wife of the emperor Teofil, the icon breaker; nevertheless she wasn’t like her husband, heretical, but orthodox. In those times, Teofil had cast away Saint Methodius, the patriarch of Constantinople and replaced him with a so-called Joan L., and also had burned the holy icons. Even though Teodora did not dare to openly worship the holy icons, she would keep them hidden in her bed case, praying to God every night for mercy for the orthodox. She gave birth to a son, Mihail, whom she taught the orthodox faith. After the death of her husband she called for Saint Methodius and gathered the Holy Synod who anathematized the icon brokers, deposed Ioan and brought back into the Church the holy icons.
Afterwards she passed away leaving the kingdom to her son Mihail” from the Lives of Saints
Saint Teodora is celebrated by the Church on the 11th of February.

Grcka carica, supruga cara Teofila ikonoborca. Po Teofilovoj smrti, ona se zacari sa svojim sinom Mihailom III i odmah, 842. godine, na saboru u Carigradu, uspostavi postovanje ikona. Tim povodom ustanovljeno je praznovanje pobede Pravoslavlja, koje se do dana danasnjeg vrsi u prvu nedelju casnoga posta. Umrla 11. februara 867. godine.
