The Triumph of Orthodoxy commemorates the restoration of the veneration of icons used by the faithful in 843 under St. Theodoar and her son MNichael II with Patriarch St. MEthodios 25 years after the 7th Eccumenical Countil (of Nicaea) that affirmed that icons were not idols but worthy of veneration (honor) following nearly 150 years of iconoclasm.
