Voznesenskaya Davidova pustin situated in 85 kilometers from Moscow and in 24 kilometers from Serpukhov, near Chekhov town. It is built on the beautiful semi-mountain Lopasnya riverside, flowing into Oka-river, rich with white stone.
In the monastery book dated 1602 the following note was made: “in 7023 (1515 AN) during the reign of Grand Prince Vasiliy Ivanovich Moscovskiy and holy archbishop Varlaam Metropolit Moscovskiy and all the Russia saint Father-Superior David came to this hermitage with two monks and two men on the 31 of May. The prince Vasiliy Semenovich Starodubskiy was the owner of Hatin with its volosts and uyezds. Saint David moved into this holy place and founded the church for the sake of Jesus Christ Ascension, with side-altar for the sake of the Blessed Virgin and Nikola wonder-maker, build the cloister cells and invited community. Saint Father-Superior David died in 7037 on the 19-th September in the day of saint great martyr Evstafiy memorial.”
