Unto us a child is given
In the tradition and practice that we keep, after the newly baptised child is presented to the altar, the priest lays the infant on the rounded steps in front of the Royal Doors that represent the stone fallen open before the Resurrection Tomb. There he gives the child to the care and nurture of the Body of Christ that is the Church. It is proclaiming the Gospel in a most dramatice act.
